Built in Holland, No 4 Steam Dredger was used for dredging docks and canals from 1925 until 1981. The bucket ladder can be lowered to dredge at whatever depth is needed.
The steam dredger is housed outside the museum at Gloucester Docks and museum visitors are able to explore below deck and see some the amazing mechanisms involved.
